Iranian American Artists On A Mission to Stop War Through Hip Hop

Call-To-DisArms

Close the ears on your head,
that listen mostly to lies and cynical jokes.
There are other things to see, and hear.
Music. Dance.
A brilliant city inside your soul!
~ Rumi

Justin Mashouf, two-time Emmy winning filmmaker, artist, and erstwhile friend of Muftah, sent us this press release yesterday:

Iranian American rap artist Base One Basic and director Justin Mashouf released their video "Call to Disarms (Why Are You Scared of Iran?)," today (09/05/13) as US lawmakers debate taking military action in Syria.

Director Justin Mashouf, mentions “As the Syrian civil war escalates and American intervention becomes more likely, anti-Iran hawks have increased their efforts to justify action against Iran.”

Independent hip hop artist Base One Basic says,”Hip hop is an international language and our message to the world is to put an end to senseless violence and war.”

The video features a variety of scenes from the lives of Iranians across 6 cities in Iran including Tehran, Tabriz, Shiraz, Mashhad, Qom, and Isfahan. From traditional Iranian martial artists, breakdancers, and freestyle BMX riders, the video shows Iranians of all walks of life.
